Regular Season Round 32: Maccabi Ashdod - Ironi Nes-Ziona 87-82

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona's (10-22) road loss to tenth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (13-19) 82-87. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ironi Nes-Ziona won third quarter 25-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ironi Nes-Ziona 45-31 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 assists and 6 steals and the former international Or Solomon (201-93) supported him with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Zvi Sherf allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals by American guard Fuquan Edwin (198-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Ironi Nes-Ziona. Naturalized Welsh Tal Michael Dunne (196-87) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Five Maccabi Ashdod and four Ironi Nes-Ziona players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to ninth place. Ironi Nes-Ziona lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 22 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ironi Nahariya (#4) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against the league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
