Leader Hapoel Jerusalem delivered the twenty sixth victory on Monday night. This time they beat 9th ranked Hapoel Holon (12-20) 85-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hapoel Holon. Hapoel Holon trailed by 21 points after 3 quarters before a 30-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-85 at the end of the game. Hapoel Jerusalem looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hapoel Jerusalem made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a quality performance of American Tony Gaffney (204-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) who added 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach Danny Franco used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and naturalized American power forward Isaac Rosefelt (204-85, college: St.Thomas) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Hapoel Jerusalem (26-6) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Loser Hapoel Holon dropped to the tenth place with 20 games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem will meet bottom-ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hapoel Holon will play against the league's second-placed Maccabi T-A and hope to secure a win.
