Seventh-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (13-16) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (17-11). Caballeros de Culiacan managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected easier game. Caballeros de Culiacan brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Jordanian swingman Jimmy Baxter (196-80, college: S.Florida) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. American forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) replied with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Manny Hernandez (190, college: Lynchburg) added 27 points in the effort for Pioneros Los Mochis. Caballeros de Culiacan moved-up to fourth place. Pioneros Los Mochis at the other side keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will again play against Pioneros Los Mochis (#7) at home in the next round. Pioneros Los Mochis will have a break next round.
