Regular Season Round 33: Le Portel - Poitiers 79-80

A very close game took place in Le Portel between Poitiers and Le Portel. Ninth ranked Poitiers (17-16) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Le Portel (18-15). Poitiers managed to escape with a 1-point win 80-79 on Friday evening. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 36-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Le Portel outrebounded Poitiers 31-19 including 27 on the defensive glass. American point guard Darrin Dorsey (188, college: Dakota Wesleyan) nailed 23 points and 4 steals for the winning side and American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: Le Moyne) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Poitiers players scored in double figures. American forward Kyle Spain (196-87, college: San Diego St.) came up with 25 points and the other American import center Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Le Portel in the defeat. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Poitiers moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Lille. Le Portel lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Nantes. Poitiers will meet at home Souffelweyersheim (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Le Portel will play against Chorale de Roanne (#16) and hope to secure a win.
