Regular Season Round 9: Norths Bears - Bankstown B. 77-42

There was no surprise in Crows Nest where bottom-ranked Bruins (0-5) were outplayed by seventh ranked North Bears (3-4) 77-42 on Saturday. North Bears held Bruins to an opponent 19.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Bruins 69-48 including a 45-33 advantage in defensive rebounds. North Bears looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when North Bears made 10 blocks. Forward Kristen Barnes (190-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Madeleine O'Hehir chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. North Bears' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Maja Peric (180-89) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Kelly Wells scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. North Bears moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Bruins still closes the standings with five games lost. North Bears will have a break next round. Bruins will play at home against Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (#7) and hope to get finally their first victory.
