Regular Season Round 9: SW Metro P. - SC Rip 86-67

Date: May 14, 2016
There was no surprise in Runcorn where bottom-ranked SC Rip (0-3) was outplayed by seventh ranked Pirates (2-1) 86-67 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pirates made 7 blocks. SC Rip was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. German guard Sidney Parsons (168-87, college: Bridgeport) stepped up and scored 31 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) chipped in 22 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. The best for the losing side was forward Kristen Langhorn (179-86) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds and Francis Donders scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Pirates moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser SC Rip still closes the standings with three games lost. Pirates will face Capitals (#12) in Brisbane in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SC Rip will play at home against Logan Thunder and hopes to get finally their first victory.
