Regular Season Round 10: Hawthorn M. - Eltham W. 75-111

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Hawthorn where 10th ranked Magic (2-8) was crushed by eleventh ranked Eltham Wildcats (3-8) 111-75 on Saturday. Eltham Wildcats dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Magic's 36. They outrebounded Magic 47-29 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Magic was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Adam Moore (198-77, college: IPFW) fired 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Benjamin Waldren chipped in 25 points. Forward Patrick Forbes (201) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and Jarrod O'Shannessy added 17 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eltham Wildcats moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Magic dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Eltham Wildcats will face Bulleen Boomers (#12) on the road in the next round. Magic will play against Diamond Valley Eagles in Greensborough and hope to win that game.
