The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Venom's (2-7) home loss to seventh ranked Boomers (5-4) 68-93 on Saturday. Boomers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Lauren Pearce (181-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and guard Tennille Nash (178) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was naturalized Italian guard Nicole Romeo (168-89, college: Washington, agency: Regeneracom Sports) with 21 points, 5 assists and 5 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and center Amanda Meinking (192-96) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Venom's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Boomers maintains seventh place in League with 5-4 record. Loser Venom dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Boomers will face higher ranked Hawks (#3) in Heathmont in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Venom will play at home against the league's leader Hume City Broncos (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
