Regular Season Round 10: Willetton T. - SW Slammers 102-81

There was no surprise in Willetton where 10th ranked Slammers (4-7) were crushed by fifth ranked Tigers (8-4) 102-81 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tigers made 9 blocks. Slammers were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Nicholas Cody (202, college: Lander) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Damien Scott (190-92) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Tigers players scored in double figures. American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St.) produced 41 points (!!!) and 6 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) and his fellow American import forward Royal Crouch (193, college: Wayland Baptist) added 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tigers maintains fifth position in League with 8-4 record. Loser Slammers keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Tigers will face Magic (#12) in Mandurah in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Slammers will play at home against Flames and hope to win that game.
