A very interesting game took place in Werribee. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 8th ranked Devils (3-8) to seventh ranked McKinnon C. (5-4) 92-91 on Saturday evening. McKinnon C. outrebounded Devils 49-32 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center Axel Dench (211-76, college: Gonzaga) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American forward Dillon Stith (200, college: St.Vincent) supported him with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals by American forward Fred Hunter (196-89, college: Nicholls St., agency: SDJ Sports) did not help to save the game for Devils. His fellow American import guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Four McKinnon C. and five Devils players scored in double figures. McKinnon C. maintains seventh position in League with 5-4 record. Devils at the other side dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. McKinnon C.'s next round opponent will be league's leader Stingrays in Geelong and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Devils will play at home against Hume City Broncos (#5) and hope to win that game.
