Regular Season Round 28: Ethnikos - Kymis 72-73

Fourth-ranked Ethnikos (17-9) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Kymis (22-4) in Piraeus on Saturday. The visitors from Kymis managed to secure only one-point victory 73-72. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 23-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Thanasis Konstantakopoulos (198-88) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four Kymis players scored in double figures. Serbian center Damir Latovic (204-80) replied with 17 points and power forward Andronikos Gizogiannis (200-83, agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ethnikos. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kymis have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Kymis maintains first position with 22-4 record. Ethnikos lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Kymis are looking forward to face league's second-placed Faros in Keratsiniou in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ethnikos will play on the road against Panerythraikos in New Eritrea and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
