A very close game took place in Hornsby between Maitland Mustangs and Spiders. Sixth ranked Maitland Mustangs (4-6) got a very close victory on the road over much higher ranked Spiders (6-4). Maitland Mustangs managed to escape with a 2-point win 80-78 on Saturday evening. American forward Mitchell Rueter (198, college: Cent.Arkansas) scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Croatian power forward Goran Veg (205) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Joshua Chapman responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Scottish guard Patrick Emery (185, college: Coker) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Five Spiders players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Maitland Mustangs went down to seventh position (League) due to points difference. Loser Spiders dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Maitland Mustangs will meet at home Sutherland Sharks (#8) in the next round. Spiders will play against Hills Hornets and hope to secure a win.
