Regular Season Round 10: Kalamunda E.S. - Perry Lakes H. 90-116
Date: May 15, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Kalamunda where bottom-ranked Suns (0-11) were outplayed by seventh ranked Hawks (7-6) 116-90 on Sunday. Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 26 and had 30 for 42 from the free-throw line, while Suns only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Hawks forced 19 Suns turnovers and outrebounded them 61-45 including a 43-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hawks made 8 blocks. Suns were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 20 rebounds and 6 blocks for the winners. Swingman Ryan O'Sullivan (194) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Geordie Murray (194-92, college: Vermilion CC) produced 24 points and guard Kerrod Horn (183-93) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hawks moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Suns still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Hawks will face Redbacks (#9) in Northbridge in the next round. Suns will play on the road against Lightning (#11) in North Lake and hope to get finally their first victory.
