There was no surprise in Kilsyth where 6th ranked Hobart Chargers (1-6) were defeated by leader Lady Cobras (6-0) 83-68 on Sunday. Lady Cobras outrebounded Hobart Chargers 47-28 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international guard Stephanie Cumming (178-90) chipped in 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Lady Cobras players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Eliza Chilcott (-90) with 8 points and 12 rebounds and American swingman Kathleen Scheer (187-89, college: Duke) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Lady Cobras maintains second place in League with 6-0 record having six points less than leader Nunawading S. Loser Hobart Chargers dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Lady Cobras will face Brisbane Spartans (#5) on the road in the next round. Hobart Chargers will play against Nationals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
