Very expected game when bottom-ranked Bulleen Boomers (0-8) were defeated at home by eighth ranked Devils (3-8) 85-74 on Sunday. Bulleen Boomers were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) fired a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for the winners. Jonathan Sonda chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. David Schaffert produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and James Weston added 17 points respectively for lost side. Four Bulleen Boomers players scored in double figures. Bulleen Boomers' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Devils went down to ninth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Bulleen Boomers still closes the standings with eight games lost. Devils will face higher ranked Hume City Broncos (#5) in Tullamarine in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bulleen Boomers will play at home against Eltham Wildcats (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
