Regular Season Round 33: Ironi Nahariya - Maccabi Ashdod 87-90

A very close game took place in Nahariya between Maccabi Ashdod and Ironi Nahariya. Ninth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (14-19) got a very close victory on the road over 4th placed Ironi Nahariya (18-15). Maccabi Ashdod managed to escape with a 3-point win 90-87 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ironi Nahariya. Ironi Nahariya was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 23-18 charge of Maccabi Ashdod, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) nailed 14 points and 6 assists for the winning side and point guard Naor Sharon (193-95) accounted for 12 points and 5 assists. Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV) came up with 23 points and American swingman Cameron Clark (201-91, college: Oklahoma) added 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for Ironi Nahariya in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Maccabi Ashdod maintains ninth place with 14-19 record. Loser Ironi Nahariya keeps the fourth position with 15 games lost.
