Regular Season Round 10: Eltham W. - Waverley F. 104-93

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Eltham Wildcats (3-8) beat at home higher ranked Waverley Falcons (7-3) 104-93 on Sunday. Eltham Wildcats made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Eltham Wildcats especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Waverley Falcons were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Benjamin Waldren fired 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Chris Cameron (210-82, college: La-Lafayette) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Center Matthew Hodgson (211-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-83, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Eltham Wildcats and five Waverley Falcons players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eltham Wildcats moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Waverley Falcons keep the fourth position with three games lost. Eltham Wildcats will face Bulleen Boomers (#12) on the road in the next round. Waverley Falcons will play against Diamond Valley Eagles (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
