Lukoil Academik held off Balkan in the championship series opener. Balkan was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Montenegrin power forward Filip Barovic (207-90, agency: Octagon Europe) fired 9 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (204-88, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Lukoil Acad.'s coach Toni Dechev used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Brandon Fortenberry (190-90, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Beo Basket) produced 25 points and the former international Martin Durchev (203-87, agency: Octagon Europe) added 18 points respectively for lost side.
