The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis' (14-20) road loss to seventh ranked Vaqueros (16-18) in Agua Prieta 97-101 on Saturday. Vaqueros made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Al'Lonzo Coleman (201-89, college: Presbyterian) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) accounted for 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Swingman Manny Hernandez (190, college: Lynchburg) came up with 31 points and 6 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) added 16 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Pioneros Los Mochis in the defeat. Five Vaqueros and four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Vaqueros maintains seventh place with 16-18 record. Pioneros Los Mochis lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Obregon. Vaqueros will meet at home higher ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
