Regular Season Round 39: Tijuana - Navolato 92-95

Date: May 21, 2016
Bottom-ranked Garra Canera de Navolato managed to get the third consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they edged sixth-ranked Tijuana Zonkeys 95-92. Strangely Tijuana Zonkeys outrebounded Garra Canera de Navolato 44-32 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Rashad Bishop (198-88, college: Cincinnati) accounted for 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) came up with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Tijuana Zonkeys in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Garra Canera de Navolato. They maintain eleventh place with 12-22 record. Defending champion Tijuana Zonkeys keep the sixth position with 19 games lost. Garra Canera de Navolato will meet at home league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
