Regular Season Round 22: Condores - Academia 82-94

Liga DirecTV top team - Academia (19-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Condores (9-13) in Cundinamarca 94-82. Academia made 27-of-35 charity shots (77.1 percent) during the game, while Condores only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Condores 42-29 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Puerto Rican-Dominican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) notched 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Canadian forward Dwayne Smith (198-89, college: G.Washington) supported him with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Even 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valparaiso) did not help to save the game for Condores. Swingman Emiro Romero (194-84) added 24 points for lost side. Four Condores players scored in double figures. Condores' coach Tomas Diaz rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Academia have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-3 record. Condores at the other side keep the sixth place with 13 games lost. Academia will play against Patriotas (#7) in Boyaca in the next round where they are favorite. Condores will play at home against Halcones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
