Regular Season Round 40: Los Mochis - Mazatlan 76-79

Ninth-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (14-21) gave a tough game to second ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (24-11) on Tuesday. The visitors from Mazatlan managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Lobos UAD Mazatlan dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros Los Mochis' 30. Lobos UAD Mazatlan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Kourtney Roberson (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Curtis Stinson (191-83, college: Iowa St.) who added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach Eric Weissling used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) responded with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Manny Hernandez (190, college: Lynchburg) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 24-11 record having five points less than leader Hermosillo. Pioneros Los Mochis lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 21 games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play again at home against the league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#2) and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
