Everything went according to plan when first ranked Geelong Supercats (8-4) defeated at home 6th ranked Sabres (4-7) 87-80 on Friday. Geelong Supercats well out of reach of Sabres shooting 135.9 percent from the field. It was a good game for guard Kristian Rocci (188-93) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: Sam Houston St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-4 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Corin Henry (180-88, college: Tarleton St., agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and center Jordan Vandenberg (216-90, college: N.Carolina St.) added 12 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-5 shooting from the field) in the effort for Sabres. Five Geelong Supercats and four Sabres players scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats maintains first position in League with 8-4 record. Loser Sabres keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Geelong Supercats will face Kilsyth Cobras (#5) on the road in the next round. Sabres will play against Bandits in Albury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
