Regular Season Round 12: Willetton T. - East Perth E. 105-100
Date: May 27, 2016
There was no surprise when 12th ranked Eagles (5-9) lost to fourth ranked Tigers (10-4) in Willetton 100-105 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Eagles outrebounded Tigers 51-37 including 19 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tigers made 8 blocks. It was a good game for American swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Kyle Armour (183-89, college: Augusta) contributed with 25 points and 4 assists for the winners. Tigers' coach Alan Black used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international center Tom Jervis (211-87, college: Troy) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Joe-Alan Tupaea (190-81) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Eagles. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Tigers moved-up to third place in League. Loser Eagles dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Tigers will face Hawks (#8) in Floreat in the next round where they are favorite. Eagles will play on the road against Suns in Kalamunda and hope to win that game.
