No shocking result in a game when third ranked Wanneroo (11-2) edged 11th ranked Lightning (4-9) in North Lake 94-93 on Friday. Wanneroo made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. Wanneroo had a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lightning was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for naturalized Greek guard Trian Iliadis (190-89, college: ODU) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Filipino guard Sebestian Salinas (190-85) contributed with 27 points for the winners. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Wanneroo's coach Ben Ettridge used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Daniel Alexander (206-91, college: Grand Canyon) replied with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward T.J. Hallice (206-92, college: Mercer) added 22 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Lightning. Wanneroo keeps a position of League leader. Loser Lightning dropped to the twelfth place with nine games lost. Wanneroo will face Magic (#13) in Mandurah in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lightning will play at home against the league's second-placed Cougars and hope to win that game.
