There was a minor upset when top-ranked Geelong Supercats (8-4) lost to third ranked Spectres (7-6) in East Burwood 68-86 on Saturday. Spectres made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Spectres outrebounded Geelong Supercats 42-23 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Nathan Wilson (201-85, college: N.Greenville) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Power forward Simon Conn (206-83, college: Gardner-Webb) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Spectres' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: Sam Houston St.) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) added 15 points in the effort for Geelong Supercats. Spectres maintains third position in League with 7-6 record behind leader Geelong S. Loser Geelong Supercats still keep top place with four games lost. Spectres will face Dandenong Rangers (#7) at home in the next round. Geelong Supercats will play against Kilsyth Cobras (#5) and hope to win that game.
