Very important is a road loss of second ranked Brisbane Spartans (7-4) against fourth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (7-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Brisbane Spartans were defeated by NW Tasmania Thunder in a tough game in Ulverstone 88-94. It was a good game for American forward Garrett Jackson (201-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). The former international forward Bradley Simpson (198-90, college: Adelphi) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. NW Tasmania Thunder's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman William McDowell-White (193-98) replied with 24 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) added 23 points in the effort for Brisbane Spartans. Four Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. NW Tasmania Thunder moved-up to third place in League. NW Tasmania Thunder will face Frankston Blues (#7) in Seaford in the next round. Brisbane Spartans will play at home against the league's second-placed Bendigo Braves (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
