No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked West Adelaide Bearcats (5-6) crushed 10th ranked Eastern Mavericks (1-10) in Woodville 74-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by West Adelaide Bearcats. Eastern Mavericks was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. West Adelaide Bearcats dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Eastern Mavericks' 28. West Adelaide Bearcats forced 22 Eastern Mavericks turnovers and outrebounded them 44-32 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Blake Truslove (204-79) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. American guard Demetrius Perkins (190, college: Idaho Coll.) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Darcy Aistrope replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds and forward Tom Cioffi (197-87) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Eastern Mavericks. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. West Adelaide Bearcats moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Eastern Mavericks keep the tenth position with ten games lost. West Adelaide Bearcats will face Central District Lions (#9) in Gawler in the next round. Eastern Mavericks will play at home against Woodville Warriors and hope to win that game.
