An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Frayles de Guasave in a game versus Tijuana Zonkeys (#7) 98-86. The game was mostly controlled by Tijuana Zonkeys. Frayles de Guasave managed to win fourth quarter 28-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) notched 25 points, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds by center Marcus Bell (206-90, college: CS Stanislaus) did not help to save the game for Frayles de Guasave. Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) added 23 points and 11 rebounds. Four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains seventh position with 18-21 record. Frayles de Guasave lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Culiacan. Tijuana Zonkeys will again meet at home higher ranked Frayles de Guasave (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round.
