Not a big story in a game in Greensborough where 11th ranked Wildcats (2-11) were outplayed by fifth ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (8-4) 72-48 on Sunday. Diamond Valley Eagles held Wildcats to an opponent 24.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Wildcats 60-37 including a 45-32 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international Belinda Snell (180-81) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Alexandra Sharp (184-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Olivia Bontempelli (179-93) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jacqueline Kitto (174-90) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Diamond Valley Eagles maintains fifth place in League with 8-4 record. Loser Wildcats keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face higher ranked Knox Raiders (#3) in Wantirna South in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wildcats will play against Venom (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
