Regular Season Round 44: Guaymas - Los Mochis 104-97

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (16-23) were defeated on the road by third ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (23-16) 104-97. Ostioneros de Guaymas made 21-of-23 charity shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Pioneros Los Mochis' players. Dominican guard Luis Flores (188-81, college: Manhattan, agency: 011 Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) added 37 points (!!!) in the effort for Pioneros Los Mochis. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains third position with 23-16 record having six points less than leader Hermosillo. Pioneros Los Mochis at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 23 games lost. They share the position with Obregon. Ostioneros de Guaymas will again play against Pioneros Los Mochis (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Pioneros Los Mochis will have a break next round.
