Bottom-ranked Piratas managed to get a fifth victory on Friday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Condores in Cundinamarca 105-97. Piratas had a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Arnold Fripp (201-93, college: Coppin St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and forward Jose Manaure (193-87) accounted for 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valparaiso) came up with 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists and center Rafael Gomez (200) added 20 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Condores in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piratas maintains eighth place with 5-20 record. Condores lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Piratas will meet at home higher ranked Sabios (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Condores will play against the league's second-placed Cimarrones having rather not much hope for a victory.
