Very important is a road loss of second ranked Hawks (9-4) against fourth ranked Sharks (8-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Hawks were defeated by Sharks in Sutherland 86-74. Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hawks' 44 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Sharks forced 21 Hawks turnovers. Guard Lauren Nicholson (183-93, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Regeneracom Sports) notched 23 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Clare Thomson-Boston supported her with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Sharks players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) by Renae Camino-Garlepp did not help to save the game for Hawks. Naturalized Greek power forward Katina Mandylaris (183-85) added 7 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Sharks maintains fourth position in League with 8-5 record. Hawks at the other side keep the second place with four games lost. Sharks' next round opponent will be league's leader Hunters in Newcastle and it may be the game of the week. Hawks will play on the road against North Bears in Crows Nest and hope to win that game.
