Regular Season Round 18: Melbourne T. - Knox R. 55-87

Everything went according to plan in Melbourne where second ranked Knox Raiders (16-2) outleveled 10th ranked Tigers (2-16) 87-55 on Sunday. Knox Raiders dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers' 32. They outrebounded Tigers 50-27 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Knox Raiders made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Korinne Campbell (184-88, college: W.Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds. Rebecca Ott chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Knox Raiders' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Monique Conti (165-99) who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds and Peri Kalka added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Knox Raiders maintains second position in League with 16-2 record having just four point less than leader Nunawading S. Loser Tigers keep the tenth place with 16 games lost. Knox Raiders will face Diamond Valley Eagles (#8) in Greensborough in the next round where they are favorite. Tigers will play at home against Wildcats and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
