Regular Season Round 20: Mandurah M. - Cockburn C. 75-108

Everything went according to plan in Mandurah where second ranked Cougars (21-4) outscored 13th ranked Magic (5-20) 108-75 on Friday. Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Magic's 44. Cougars forced 26 Magic turnovers and outrebounded them 58-46 including 45 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Marcus Goode (208-88, college: Benedict) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import swingman Najee Lane (192-88, college: Clark Atlanta) who added 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Cougars' coach Matthew Parsons felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Benjamin Smith (204-88, college: Concordia Irvine) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Trevor Setty (203-89, college: Pikeville) scored 22 points and 4 assists. Cougars maintains second position in League with 21-4 record having just thirteen point less than leader Geelong S. Loser Magic dropped to the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. Cougars will face league's leader Wanneroo in Joondalup in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Magic will play at home against Stirling S. (#7) and hope to win that game.
