We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Belconnen where 6th ranked Lady Bandits (3-16) were defeated by seventh ranked Nationals (3-15) 66-56 on Saturday. Guard Maddison Penn (184-94, college: Virginia Tech) fired 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Abbie Davis (182-94) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Molly Lewis (182-89) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) and forward Haylee Lepaio (188, college: Newberry) added 7 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Nationals moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Lady Bandits dropped to the seventh position with 16 games lost. Nationals will face higher ranked Frankston Blues (#3) in Seaford in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lady Bandits will play on the road against Brisbane Spartans (#4) and hope to win that game.
