Everything went according to plan in Mackay where second ranked Meteorettes (12-3) outleveled 14th ranked Mountaineers (2-11) 100-54 on Saturday. Meteorettes dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Mountaineers' 46. They outrebounded Mountaineers 62-26 including a 28-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Tami Willey (183-79) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. American guard Deanna Weaver (180, college: Boise St.) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. Meteorettes' coach felt very confident using entire bench saving starting five for next games. Spanish forward Maria Royo (178-86) produced 32 points and Spanish forward Beatriz Royo (176-91) added 4 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Meteorettes maintains second place in League with 12-3 record having just eight point less than leader Rockingham CF. Loser Mountaineers keep the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Meteorettes will face league's leader Cyclones in Rockhampton in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mountaineers will play at home against Logan Thunder (#4) and hope to win that game.
