Very expected game in Gawler where bottom-ranked Lions (0-18) were rolled over by fifth ranked Eagles (11-7) 117-67 on Saturday. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Lions' 34 and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Eagles forced 22 Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 54-30 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Lions' players. Forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Samantha Defrancesco chipped in 32 points (made all of her ten free throws !!!). Alisha Carlin produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and Danielle Greaves (-93) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Eagles maintains fifth place in League with 11-7 record. Loser Lions still closes the standings with 18 games lost. Eagles will face Mavericks (#8) in Mt. Barker in the next round. Lions will play at home against Tigers and hope to get finally their first victory.
