Regular Season Round 20: Sydney Comets - Bankstown B. 92-99

There was a minor upset in Alexandria where one of their biggest challengers Sydney City Comets (11-7) were defeated by fifth ranked Bankstown Bruins (11-8) 99-92 on Saturday. Bankstown Bruins made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Sydney City Comets only scored twelve points from the stripe. Strangely Sydney City Comets outrebounded Bankstown Bruins 53-36 including 18 on the offensive glass. Sydney City Comets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Jason Cadee (186-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 assists and 4 steals and Nic Pozoglou who added 25 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Power forward Tom Dawson (197) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and forward Louis Brandt scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sydney City Comets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bankstown Bruins moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Sydney City Comets keep the third position with seven games lost. Bankstown Bruins will face Spiders (#6) in Hornsby in the next round. Sydney City Comets will play on the road against the league's leader Norths Soul Sports Bears in Crows Nest and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
