Very important is a road loss of second ranked Townsville Heat (11-3) against sixth ranked Cairns Marlins (9-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Townsville Heat was crushed by Cairns Marlins in Cairns 94-73. Cairns Marlins forced 21 Townsville Heat turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Cameron Tragardh (209-83, college: ORU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and guard Anthony Fisher (187-94) who added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Five Cairns Marlins players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Peter Crawford (193-79) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international point guard Joshua Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Cairns Marlins went down to seventh position (League) due to points difference. Loser Townsville Heat dropped to the third place with three games lost. Cairns Marlins will face Sunshine CR (#10) in the next round. Townsville Heat will play against Sunshine CR (#10) and hope to win that game.
