There was a minor upset in Belconnen where one of their biggest challengers Canberra Gunners (10-10) were defeated by seventh ranked Bandits (10-11) 96-91 on Saturday. Canberra Gunners were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Donte Nicholas (196-87, college: Fresno Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Deba George (183-85) who added 21 points and 6 assists during the contest. Center Ben Allen (211-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds and guard Daniel Joyce (194-87) scored 19 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bandits moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Canberra Gunners dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Bandits will face league's second-placed Brisbane Spartans on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Canberra Gunners will play against Frankston Blues and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
