Regular Season Round 2: Rio Claro - XV Piracicaba 62-47

Very expected game when XV Piracicaba (0-2) was defeated on the road by Rio Claro (2-1) 62-47 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rio Claro. XV Piracicaba managed to win fourth quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding XV Piracicaba to just 7 points in second quarter. Rio Claro held XV Piracicaba to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.5 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was the former international Guilherme Teichmann (206-83, college: Tulsa) who scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) chipped in 17 points. Naturalized Lithuanian center Douglas Gorauskas (205-83) produced 10 points and 8 rebounds and Fransergio Marques (190-81) added 15 points respectively for the guests. XV Piracicaba's coach Dusan Radivojevic let to play ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rio Claro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. XV Piracicaba will play against Vivo/Franca (#5) in Sao Paulo and hope to win that game.
