Regular Season Round 8: Rio Claro - Mogi 69-75
Date: August 20, 2016
Paulista top team - Mogi (8-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Rio Claro (3-5) 75-69. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 32-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 19 points and the former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Mogi's coach Danilo Padovani used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds by the former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) did not help to save the game for Rio Claro. Mateus Dalla Barba (198-91) added 15 points for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mogi have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Loser Rio Claro keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Mogi will meet Osasco B. (#5) in the next round. Rio Claro will play against Paulistano in Sao Paolo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
