Regular Season Round 9: America - L.Sorocaba 90-77

Date: August 24, 2016
Rather expected game in Rio Preto where 10th ranked Liga Sorocaba (1-8) was defeated by seventh ranked America (3-6) 90-77 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by America. Liga Sorocaba managed to win fourth quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 30-of-37 free shots (81.1 percent) during the game. America forced 19 Liga Sorocaba turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Randon Dyer (196-87) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Dave Boykin (196-88, college: Bridgeport) chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) who recorded 28 points and 5 steals and guard Victor De Gusmao (188-93) added 17 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for America. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rio Claro. Liga Sorocaba lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. They share it with Bauru. America will meet higher ranked Vivo/Franca (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liga Sorocaba will play against Rio Claro (#6) and hope to win that game.
