Regular Season Round 5: Correcaminos - Halcones 84-91

Another exciting game was played in Colon between second ranked Halcones and 4th placed Correcaminos where Halcones (3-2) beat Correcaminos (2-3) on the road 91-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Correcaminos. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Correcaminos won third quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Correcaminos were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Kenny Brown (188-91, college: Ferris St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 assists. Forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Halcones' coach J Munoiz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 21 rebounds and the former international Josimar Stewart (193-86) added 14 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Correcaminos. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Halcones maintains second place with 3-2 record behind leader Panteras, which they share with Aguilas. Defending champion Correcaminos keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Toros. Halcones will play against bottom-ranked Caballos (#6) in Aguadulce in the next round. Correcaminos will play on the road against Toros in David and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
