Regular Season Round 5: Caballos - Panteras 76-84

Leader Panteras delivered the fourth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Caballos (1-4) 84-76 in Aguadulce. Caballos trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 26-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-84 at the end of the game. Panteras dominated on the defensive end, holding Caballos to just 7 points in first quarter. Panteras had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Brad Da Costa (183-89) stepped up and scored 24 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized American forward Javier Carter (202-91, college: S.Alabama) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. The former international swingman Anell Alexis (200-90, college: Marist, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Joel Tesis (206-82, college: John Brown) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Caballos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panteras have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-1 record. Loser Caballos stay at the bottom position with four games lost. Panteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Aguilas.
