Undefeated Mogi (12-1) recorded its first loss in Rio Preto on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked America (4-9) 83-78. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Mogi. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 28-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. America looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Dave Boykin (196-88, college: Bridgeport) fired 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Rafael Castellon (-85) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) produced 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Five America and four Mogi players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. America maintains seventh place with 4-9 record. Mogi at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. America are looking forward to face Paschoalotto/Bauru (#9) at home in the next round. Mogi will play against Vivo/Franca (#3) in Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
