Regular Season Round 7: Panteras - Correcaminos 61-83

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Panteras (5-2) in Panama City on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by third ranked Correcaminos (4-3) 83-61. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Panteras. It was a great shooting night for Correcaminos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. It was a great evening for Eduardo Issac who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Cuban power forward Joan Luis Haiti (200-82, agency: Pro Sports) helped adding 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Josimar Blenman (200-89, college: Globe Tech JC) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and Luis Ibarra (188-85) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 4-3 record behind leader Panteras. Panteras at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Halcones. Correcaminos are looking forward to face Caballos (#5) in Aguadulce in the next round. Panteras will play at home against Toros (#6) and are hoping to win this game.
