Regular Season Round 8: Panteras - Toros 82-89

Top ranked Panteras (5-3) recorded its third loss in Panama City on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Toros (3-5) 89-82. Panteras were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 26-14 charge of Toros, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized American guard Antonio Bumpus (190-89, college: Cumberlands) who scored 34 points (!!!) (was perfect 16-for-16 from the free throw line !!!). Point guard Joel Munoz (183-80, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists. Point guard Brad Da Costa (183-89) produced 21 points and 6 assists and Daniel King (203-87, college: Texas Southern) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Aguilas. Panteras at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Correcaminos. Toros is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Caballos (#6) in Aguadulce in the next round. Panteras' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Halcones.
