Regular Season Round 2: Toros - Panteras 46-75

Date: September 18, 2016
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Toros (1-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Panteras (2-0) 75-46. The game was mostly controlled by Panteras. Toros managed to win third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toros to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Toros 55-30 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Toros' players. Swingman Shayra Brown (175-92, college: Boston Coll.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Kiley Herold (185, college: MidAmerica Naz.) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Angela Lara (170-0) replied with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Nayelis Gutierres added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Toros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panteras is looking forward to face Halcones in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toros will play against Aguilas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
